About our foundation

EDNA foundation (EF) is a non- profit organization established to support the children’s with disabilities resides in across Ethiopia, started at the early September 2020. However, it was legally registered as an Ethiopian Residents Civil Societies Organization on 19th September 2023 by the Ethiopian civil society organization agency (CSO).

How it started

Edna Fisseha was born on 6 February 2004 in Los Angeles USA from her parents Ato Fisseha Mengesha and W/ro Genet Gebreegziabher the only child, was a huge blessing to her parents and the extended family and friends. She had a smooth upbringing and was healthy and her school life enjoyable performing well up to grade 3 and was a playful until the age of 8 years. After receiving a vaccination, she has manifested a sudden unable to walk diagnosed with Spinal muscular atrophy leading her be on the wheelchair. She has obtained all possible health care at high standard hospitals in the USA, Edna was brought home to Ethiopia where she was taken to Monasteries for a holly water along with health care. Edna has endured much suffering regardless of all the efforts she has passed away on 23 February 2012 and rested at St Selassie Cathedral church in Addis Ababa.

Edna was an extraordinary visionary bright child who has an ambition to be a medical Doctor and serve children with disability she was a multi linguistic fluent in English, Amharic and Tigrigna. Her parents are committed to establish a foundation after her name that would empower children with disabilities to obtain optimal health care, education and dignity to be self-reliant productive members of their communities across Ethiopia

Mrs. Genet Gebreegziabher Abera, mother of Elda Fisseha, is the founder Elda Foundation in addition she is working in fund raising, policy initiation, providing general direction on major issues and strategic leadership.
